Irèni Stamou is Greek Canadian. She first started visiting Montezuma in 2000 and returned during Canadian winters for 6 years before settling for 8 years to raise her son in the villages of Cabuya and Montezuma, and was resident Yoga teacher at Ylang Ylang Yoga Resort. Irèni later moved north to Nosara, Costa Rica, for another 5 years pursuing her advanced Yoga trainings at the Nosara Yoga Institute and was senior teacher and Soma Thai Yoga massage practitioner at The Healing Centre at The Harmony Hotel; where she also offered specialized  sessions in Dance, Aerial yoga and Bamboo Yoga.  Irèni  lead inspirational ocean jungle retreats, founded Bamboo Yoga and Eco- Body practices directly in Costa Rican nature. 

Irèni currently lives in Peterborough, Nogojiwanong, Ontario, with her family, started Irèni Movement Arts, is a studio owner and teaches and performs in the vibrant community by the Otonabee River.

Belén Garcia from Argentina has made Montezuma, Costa Rica  her home since 2000. A mother, Visual artist, chef, and entrepreneur with a generous dynamic heart!  Belén is the owner of the Ko retreat center and our host. Belén is passionate about sustainability and is an active village member with projects to protect nature and wildlife. She is also an active member in establishing organizations to protect women’s rights in the area.
